Who we are

Vivace Vermont is a new design house created by a daughter-mother duo, Gail Borden and Sophia Manzi. Using the medium of fabric, they design unique products for you and your home using their original artwork. Their designs are abstract riots of color meant to embody the qualities they value: positive energy, vitality, and strength.

OUR START

In 2019, during a trip to NYC the idea for Vivace was born. We brainstormed the groundwork for Vivace over breakfast in the garment district. We started with a staple piece in any wardrobe: the jean jacket and put a fresh twist on it making a statement piece garment with our designs and artwork. Now, two years later we are expanding our designs and working on home goods too!

We are deeply grateful for your hand in realizing our generational dream of making art.

The NAME

Vivace (pronounced Vee - VAH - chey) is Italian for “lively” and often used in music to describe an upbeat tempo. We also see it as an expression of joy, energy, vitality, boldness, and strength. It is also an homage to our admiration of Italian design and fashion. When coming up with the name for our business, we wanted to convey a quality that my mom and I see in one another and that we wish to share with the world.
